Terms & conditions

The rules of the game for signing up, buying tickets and taking part in Romania Kendama Open 2026.

01Organiser

Romania Kendama Open 2026 ("RKO", "the event") is organised by ASOCIATIA JUCATORILOR DE KENDAMA (AJK), CIF 55487800, Str. Constantin Brâncoveanu nr. 7, Buzău, Romania, email office@asociatiakendama.ro, phone 0750 289 423 ("we", "the organiser").

These terms apply to everyone who signs up, buys a ticket, competes in or attends the event. By signing up or buying a ticket you accept them.

This website, asociatiakendama.ro, is owned and operated by the organiser.

02The event

RKO takes place on 19–20 December 2026 in Bucharest, Romania, from 10:00 to 20:00 each day. The venue, the schedule, the categories and the prizes are published on this website. The venue will be announced on this website and on our social accounts.

03Sign-up and tickets

  • Ticket sales are not open yet. When they open, sign-up and payment will be done on this website through a payment provider. We do not take payments any other way and we never ask for card details by email or message.
  • The price of each ticket and what it includes are shown before you pay. Prices are in the currency shown at checkout and include VAT where it applies.
  • A player can enter up to 3 categories, and only one of Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Pro Open. Game of Ken and Freestyle are open to every player. Entries that break this rule can be cancelled or changed by the organiser.
  • The organiser can limit the number of places in each category. Places are given in order of payment.
  • You must give true and complete details when you sign up. Tickets are personal; they can be moved to another player only with our written agreement.

04Cancellation and refunds

  • If we cancel the event, or a category you paid for, you get a full refund of the ticket price for that event or category.
  • If we move the event to another date, your ticket stays valid. If you cannot come on the new date, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of the announcement.
  • If you cannot come, the ticket cancellation policy applies: deadlines, refunds and transfers.
  • Under EU and Romanian consumer law (Government Emergency Ordinance 34/2014, art. 16 letter l), the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to leisure services booked for a specific date.
  • Travel, accommodation and other costs are not covered by the organiser in any case.

05Contest rules and judging

Each category has its own rules, published on the rules page. Players must follow them and the instructions of the judges and organisers. Judges' decisions are final, except for video appeals made as described in the rules. The organiser can move a player to the right level, change the format if the number of players requires it and disqualify players who break the rules or behave badly.

06Prizes

  • The prizes are listed on the website for each category. Cash prizes are paid in US dollars or in Romanian lei at the exchange rate of the National Bank of Romania on the payment day, in cash at the event or by bank transfer within 30 days.
  • Any tax the organiser has to withhold under Romanian law is deducted from cash prizes. Winners may be asked for an ID and the details needed for payment and tax reporting.
  • Prizes for players under 18 are handed to their parent or legal guardian.
  • Kendama prizes depend on what partners provide and may change in brand or model. Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
  • A prize that is not claimed within 60 days of the event is forfeited.

07Players under 18

Players under 18 can compete only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, given at sign-up and confirmed at check-in. Players under 14 must have a parent, guardian or another adult named by them at the venue for the whole time they are there. Parents and guardians are responsible for their children outside the contest areas.

08Health, safety and responsibility

  • Kendama is a physical activity. By taking part, you confirm that you (or your child) can do it safely, and you tell us about any condition we need to know.
  • Follow the safety instructions, play only in the marked areas and keep a safe distance from other people.
  • You are responsible for your belongings and your kendamas. The organiser is not liable for lost, stolen or damaged items.
  • The organiser is liable only as required by law, and not for damage caused by players or spectators to themselves or others through their own fault.
  • The venue's house rules apply. The organiser and the venue can refuse entry or remove anyone who puts others at risk.

09Photos, video and livestream

The event is photographed, filmed and may be streamed live. By taking part or attending, you agree that you may appear in photos and videos published by AJK, its partners and the media on websites, social media and promotional materials, and that players' names and results are published.

You can withdraw this consent at any time by writing to office@asociatiakendama.ro; we will remove the photos and videos in which you can be recognised from our channels within 30 days. More in the privacy policy.

10Changes and force majeure

We may change the schedule, the categories, the format or the venue for organisational or safety reasons, and we will announce changes on this website. We are not liable if the event cannot take place because of force majeure (for example extreme weather, public health measures or decisions of the authorities); in that case the refund rules above apply.

11Personal data

We process your personal data as described in the privacy policy.

12Language versions

This website is available in English, Romanian and Japanese. The Japanese version was translated using AI and is provided only for convenience: it has no legal effect, and the organiser is not responsible for errors or inaccuracies in it. If the English and Japanese versions differ, the English version applies.

13Applicable law and complaints

These terms are governed by Romanian law. Write to us first at office@asociatiakendama.ro; we answer within 30 days. Consumers can also contact the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC, anpc.ro). Disputes that cannot be settled amicably go to the competent courts in Romania, without affecting the rights consumers have under the law of their country of residence.
